Expertise

Alexander Niederwanger advises national and international clients on intellectual property law, with a focus on patent law. His technical expertise extends in particular to innovations in mechanical engineering and production technology.

With a clear understanding of technical contexts, he supports his clients from the drafting of patent applications through the examination procedure to the grant of patents – both before the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO) and the European Patent Office (EPO). He is also regularly involved in opposition, nullity, and infringement proceedings, working closely with specialized attorneys. Furthermore, he is known for his efficient and goal-oriented communication with clients.

During his PhD at the University of Innsbruck and Cornell University, Alexander gained extensive knowledge in the fields of civil engineering and materials technology. He supplemented his technical education with work experience at a consultancy during his studies and a traineeship at the European Patent Office.

In his free time, Alexander enjoys sports, such as tennis and trail running in the mountains. He is a member of FICPI and Engineers Without Borders.
