Dr. Sebastian Rieger
Expertise
Dr. Sebastian Rieger assists clients at every stage of the patent lifecycle – from filing to enforcement – before German courts, the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, and the Unified Patent Court (UPC).
In his daily work, Sebastian deliberately draws on the synergy between prosecution and litigation practice: His litigation experience flows directly into his prosecution practice. From the outset, he keeps an eye on enforceability and validity to secure economically relevant patents for his clients. In litigation, in turn, his keen insight, sharpened by prosecution practice, allows him to precisely determine the critical balance between infringement and validity and to deploy it strategically.
He combines technological depth with legal expertise, developed through academic research, professional practice, and training in patent and trademark law. Sebastian possesses broad technical expertise as well as in-depth know-how in his technological specializations, particularly in nanotechnology (from preparative chemistry to nanoelectronics), semiconductor technology, photonics, and optoelectronics.
