Expertise

Johannes Schön has been advising national and international clients in the field of intellectual property law for over 10 years, with a particular focus on patent law. As a physicist, he supports technically demanding innovation projects with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, software-implemented inventions, and other digital technologies. Another particular focus of his professional expertise is in the field of video coding and multimedia standards, especially MPEG.

He also specialises in drafting new patent applications. Johannes works closely with clients, supporting them from the development and structuring of the technical idea through the strategic design of the patent application to the successful granting of the patent. He has particular expertise in technical borderline areas, especially in the field of software-related inventions, where the question of technicality plays a central role.

He has many years of experience in national and European patent grant proceedings as well as in opposition and appeal proceedings.
