The enemy of Apple is becoming creative

Patent developers such as IPCom are no longer concentrating exclusively on acquiring a lot of smallish patents and collecting license fees for them. Although this approach is lucrative, at the same time it does, however, earn these firms a bad name. This is reported by the daily paper Handelsblatt on June 5, 2014. Those who are in the know about what is going on behind the scenes, such as Dr. Bernd Allekotte of the Munich-based law firm Grünecker, who specializes in patent litigation, have long regarded the so-called patent trolls as a functioning component of the patent utilization chain: "They have meanwhile left the part of the schoolyard where the stick up kids meet". As Handelsblatt continues to report, IPCom employed its own development team that worked out cell phone patents independently which increased its revenues and visibility in the market.
