Trading with the EU: Indian patent legislation slow to progress

At the Twelfth EU/India summit, besides the free trade agreement intellectual property is also to be given strength. That is of enormous significance for German businesses. In an interview with the Handelsblatt, Jens Christian Koch argues that patent law is still in the process of being developed in India. The patent attorney oftentimes goes to India to file many a patent for German enterprises on location. We learn from him that the corresponding legislation has been revised only recently, in order to make the procedures more transparent. German businesses are now in a position to enforce their patents through lawsuits, and also by way of a preliminary injunction.
