Grünecker appoints two new Associate Partners

Grünecker has appointed two new Associate Partners, Dr. Stefano Marchini and Dr. Rainer Plaggenborg, at its Munich office. The firm thus strengthens its expertise in the fields of physics and life science/pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Marchini specialises in the field of physics. He focuses in particular on semiconductor technologies, mechanical engineering and renewable energies. He provides comprehensive advice on grant, opposition, revocation and infringement proceedings concerning Italian, German and European patents. After obtaining his diploma in physics from the Università degli Studi di Trieste in 2001, he obtained his doctorate in physical chemistry from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München in 2007. Dr. Marchini is admitted to practice as an Italian, German and European Patent Attorney and is experienced in advising national and international clients. For Dr. Marchini, personal client care is as important as a precise analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of a case and the resulting assessment of risks and strategies: "Only by working closely together complex problems can be successfully solved and results of the highest professional quality be achieved."

Dr. Plaggenborg is a German and European patent attorney in the field of life sciences and pharmaceuticals. As a molecular biologist with a doctorate, he specialises in patents on new biotechnological and, above all, therapeutic methods. One of his core expertise areas is modern immunotherapies. He has proven success in patent prosecution before the European Patent Office. He also conducts opposition and appeal proceedings and has extensive experience in complex multinational patent litigation. In addition, Dr. Plaggenborg is also involved in questions concerning the drafting of IP contracts and advises companies in a targeted manner with regard to the strategic orientation of patent portfolios. In his new role, he sees many opportunities to establish a future-oriented and powerful team in the market: "The goal is to further expand the life science practice in the interest of our clients and our firm."

With the appointment of Dr. Marchini and Dr. Plaggenborg as Associate Partners, Grünecker continues its growth and strengthens its abilities in two core areas. The firm focuses on the promotion and development of its own talent. The appointments are further proof of the excellent career prospects at Grünecker.
