Alexander Stumvoll specialises in patent law, particularly in the fields of mechanical engineering, electromechanics, product development, and production technology. He has extensive experience drafting patent applications and handling the corresponding grant, appeal, and opposition proceedings—both before the German Patent and Trademark Office and the European Patent Office. He also advises on parallel proceedings outside Europe to obtain cross-border patent protection.

Alexander regularly represents his clients in complex nullity and patent infringement proceedings. His many years of experience in these areas make him a sought-after contact for preparing validity and infringement opinions.

Design protection is often an option in addition to patent protection to protect new product developments. Alexander also advises and represents his clients in design law matters.

In addition, his clients particularly value his strategic advice on developing and managing an efficient IP portfolio.
