Dr. Benedikt Menz
German Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, Representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC)
Expertise
Benedikt Menz represents our clients primarily in patent matters, particularly those involving sensor technology, energy storage, signal processing, and communication technology.
His technical focus includes electrical circuits with semiconductor sensors, appliances using artificial intelligence, video coding according to the H.263, H.264, and H.265 standards, and communication technologies according to the 3G to 6G 3GPP standards.
Another focus of Benedikt’s consultancy is on boundary cases of technicality, particularly in relation to computer implemented inventions. This is a constantly evolving area, which has developed a distinct jurisdiction in Europe and Germany.
Drafting complex patent applications is as much a part of his daily work as the professional and efficient conduct of patent grant proceedings, including challenging appeal proceedings before the German and European Patent Offices.
In addition, Benedikt Menz is regularly involved in two-party opposition and appeal proceedings and prepares infringement and validity opinions in electrical engineering, physics, and mechanics.
Benedikt advises, in particular, large international patent applicants and medium-sized German companies. He also assists start-ups, especially those associated with the Technical University of Munich.
