Expertise

Joep Loos mainly represents his clients in patent matters, particularly in patent prosecution, opposition, and nullity proceedings. His expertise lies in image and video coding and telecommunications for so-called Standard Essential Patents (SEP).

He also specialises in electrical engineering and electronics, particularly battery and information technology, as well as automation. He is equally experienced in drafting patent applications and the practical and targeted management of prosecution proceedings before the German and European Patent Offices. He is also responsible for the management of worldwide application families.

Joep studied physics at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and the University of New Mexico and gained extensive knowledge in a wide range of fields such as electronics, measurement technology, signal processing, mechanics, optics and detector technology during his doctorate and subsequent work as a research assistant at the German Aerospace Center.

He has expanded his technical and scientific education through an accompanying graduate program with interdisciplinary key competencies. He can now use this efficiently and advantageously for the benefit of his clients.
