Victor Lopes Aguiar, a graduate of the University of Kaiserslautern in mechanical and process engineering with a specialisation in environmental process engineering, has been contributing his extensive knowledge of intellectual property since 2007. As a consultant, he supports a wide range of clients, from medium-sized companies and large corporations to start-ups and individual inventors.

His expertise is based on extensive experience in contentious disputes, which he now applies specifically to the drafting of IP applications and representation in examination proceedings before patent offices. Victor has in-depth expertise in areas such as general mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, renewable energies and the consumer goods sector.

Victor’s standout capability lies in his adept management of disputes, particularly in crafting third-party observations and conducting bipartite proceedings. This encompasses opposition and appeal proceedings across various esteemed entities such as the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Federal Patent Court, and the European Patent Office. His proficiency extends to patent litigation in civil courts and nullity proceedings before the Federal Patent Court. Beyond Germany, Victor has served as an expert witness in civil courts in his native Portugal, showcasing his global proficiency.

Furthermore, Victor demonstrates expertise in drafting licence agreements, providing infringement and validity opinions, and assessing and enforcing intellectual property rights. His counsel spans trademark, employee invention, and design law, always tailored to suit the unique requirements of his clients.
